Training Camp

I am in Ventura this week, hanging out on the beach and riding my bike in the sunshine. Today I found this massive climb up out of Ojai. It reminded me of riding in the Alps outside of Nice. Huge mountains with not much more than scrub brush and rocks. Pretty cool though. I think I saw about 4 cars the whole time as I climbed for 1.5 hours. At the top I didnt know where to go so I flipped it and came back down through the valley. Tomorrow I am going to find a good loop. The out and back rides arent that sweet. Now I think i might go across the street and grab some In and Out for dinner. Cheese burgers! Delicious. Thats about it for now. later

Old Pueblo

Just did the first race of the year for me. The 24 hrs in the Old Pueblo in Tucson. It was pretty sweet. Kona was the title sponsor of the event and wanted us to win pretty badly so Kris and I went down along with Matt Slavin from the Bike Gallery and Luke from Rad racing. We had to pull out some fast laps towards the end of the race because this local hammer team was just killing it, and we only ended up winning by about 14 minutes! Close one! It was a super rad scene though, relaxed and fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I am pretty tired from getting up at 3 am to do some more laps though, plus I did the last 2 laps in a row so that was extra hard. Kris set the precedent a few laps earlier when he went out for a second when the next guy didn't show up immediately so I figured I had to do two in a row also or I would look like a sissy! Now I am just hanging in the Cruz recovering and getting ready to head down to Ventura next week with Sarah for one of her Chemistry Conferences. It will be cool to check out some new riding territory and hopefully see some more sun! Tomorrow I am going to ride over to San Jose and watch Doug win the group sprint in the ToC. Dont let me down Snuggles! Word.

Not much to Report

Things are coming together for my assult on the Euro World Cup scene. I am going to be traveling with my old mate, K-Bomb and his Quebexican counterpart Matteau! That should be pretty fun. All the kids from up north have been venturing down here and sleeping in my living room as they try to escape from the various horrendous conditions in Oregon, Colorado and Canada. Last night we finally had the house to ourselves and it was nice!Tonkin, Rhonda and the Gus man where down this weekend as well, so that was fun. I have been putting in some serious hours on the MTB recently and that has been pretty refreshing. It always seems easier to do a 6 hr MTB ride than the equivalent road ride. Maybe it is all the trees and sick jumps that keep me from going crazy. The season is just about to get really cranking pretty soon, so I am going to enjoy these next few weeks sleeping in my own bed and and walking down to the News Stand to get a hot dog and coffee after my rides. Time to make dinner!
