Nationals and On

SO it is pretty sweet that Ryan won CX Nats. I feel like I rode well, but tok my self out of it on the last lap with a pretty wicked stack. I even meesed up my thumb pretty good. It has been a while since I went down that hard. My head even bounced off the dirt. I guees that is what I get for trying to push it a bit to hard. The race was super fats, probably the fastest I have done in the US ever. I felt pretty good the whole time though, untill the last 2 laps when page and Timmy were attacking each other. Then I started not feeling very good at all. My quads were cramping and I couldnt tand up to accelerate. I was still keeping it rollig though, and was almost back on terms when i went down. My plan was to catch them up as the slowed on the pvement to look at each other and immediatly attack, but then I decided to attack my slef into the dirt. oh well, live and learn. After a sweet party at the HUb in providence and some spctating I headed to belgium. Pretty ok trip, didnt sllep due to tthe crying babies, but made it here and am getting settled in. It is strange to be back here. Everything is the same as when I last left, so it is almost like I left and then it all stoped and didnt start until I got back. I feel a lot more comfortable here this year though, and have great expectations on my self for the racing. anyways, thats about it for now. I sleept like 13 hours last night and need to go ride my bike now. Our first race is saturday and I will put up a post after that. Word

You looked strong marking that chase group. You guys were flying out there. Ryan owes you more than a few beers.

I was standing next the turn where you crashed. It looked like your front wheel washed out, but whatever happene d you went down pretty hard.

Kick some ass over in Europe!

Fawesome man! Its great watching team mates actually work together in cross...

Treefarm is wicked lucky your Nasty ass was sucking the wheels off TJ and JP...

Kick ass in euro land...

that and i'll ask this:

Was that course in Providence closer to a euro course than most of the US stuff?

Does the US need more like that to prep better riders for duking it out with the Fidea/Rabobank dudes?

Rock on man... freaking rock on Barry!

The euro races wold be as fast as nationals, but it would be greasy muddy, like 2 inches of slimey mud over hard clay. and we would be going faster. it is not possable to repicate the euro conditions in the US couse we are to slow, and the dirt is different.

Congrats to you and Ryan at Nats. I'm the freak who wanted to buy a used bike off of one of you Saturday morning. I'm dead serious, if you're selling, I'm buying. Great ride man and good luck across the pond.

Way to make oregon proud. You have been riding well this year and it's really cool to see when you have great days. Hopefully you will taste more of that magic in the legs in the coming weeks.

So were you racing on your self-repaired Rhinos?

Thanks for talking about the differences in courses here vs. Belgium. That is really interesting. So, considering that the belgies have adapted to the terrain over there do you think the courses here in the US demand a different bike setup on average? Would they be handed a reality check if they tried to apply the same methods here? Or still just stomp us like when Vervecken visited the Muddy Stumptown of yore.

Keep it up. It's fun to know that geeky stuff.

I was running the Typhoon tread at nationals cause it so fast. the rhynos arent good are the hard pack, to wandery and draggy. The euroes just know how to set up theier bikes better in general. we have maybe 2 options for wheels/tires at any given race. they show up with 30 different wheel sets with pretty much every possable tire combo/size available and spend all their preride time figuring out what will eb the best. they would not have any trouble adapting o the us races. they are all pretty uch the same. over here in belgium the dirt can change from one section to another, in the us, it is all pretty much the same.
