Just finished the Mt Hood Classic. It was pretty hard this year. The addition of another stage, along with the lengthening of the circuit race made the race quite a bit rougher for this kid. I had a sweet prologue, finishing 5th, then cruised through the first few days unscathed and arrived at the TT ready to giver a go, but the old legs let me down. I think a combination of not sleeping well and wasting energy in the previous road stages, combined with my horrable skills, lead to a dismal 44th place. I think I went faster last year with out any aero equipment. Oh well, the crit was uneventful and sunday I tried to get something going with Burke Swindlehurst on the first climb, but the Net of Health was having none of it so i spent the rest of the day dropping those guys on the wet twisty descents so I could get a head start on the climbs since me legs felt like i was beating on them with a mallet. I finally lost contact with 5k to go and finished up about 4 minutes back. Oh well, good training and now it is time to get back to the real kind of racing. Out to NC tomorrow for Norba number 2 and then up to Vermont and then Quebec for another norba and a worl cup. Hopefully I can pick up where I left off and get my MTB mojo rolling again. Untill next time, I think its time for a nap.
